Sergiy Korelov: From Soviet hardships to American success; empowering others through coaching
F rom the harshest realities of the Soviet Union to the brightest lights of American success, Sergiy Korelov's movement is nothing less than extraordinary. Born in Ukraine, as it was then at the time of the USSR, Sergiy grew under dire economical and political straits. Taking all this into consideration, seemingly impossible problems were blocking his way, but within him were burning dreams for a better life-that life, which would bring him to apply to the Green Card lottery at the end of the 1990s. Long were the chances, but luck was on his side. On his 25th birthday Sergiy received a letter that would change his life once and for all.
Sergiy, who had just $1,500, started with his pregnant wife, Olga, and his young daughter Eva for the United States, solitary there. Miles apart, he well knew this place did not exist, as he continued to deal with all the new aspects of his life that came into play, meeting Alaska where the language, money concerns, and cultural differences proved a challenge that Sergiy faced aggressively.
He worked in different jobs: woodcarvings, a school bus driver, and even pensioners' caregiver. His pains were not forgotten for a long time. Given his skills as an artisan, Sergiy had no need to waste much time to make himself friends in a new city. First, he became an apprentice, then learned the business of building, and even founded his well-known company of interior designs, EuroCasa, in San Diego.
This in no way happened without dramatic personal development and involvement in the life of his community. Sergiy became a very influential leader in his local church, eventually moving into the position of senior pastor and serving at various times as vice president of a pastors' network. He was further invited to public service as a planning commissioner for the city of Wasilla.
Serhii is full of energy and now full on commitment to giving back - as today, he celebrates his 50th birthday by marking his victory but being fully committed to giving back. He has oriented himself towards empowering through education and coaching. His vision is 'Kore Coaching business school' where he looks forward to sharing insights into overcoming barriers in business and personal growth with other people. His goal is to inspire and guide other people, irrespective of background, toward being purpose-driven biz leaders in their own realm.
Sergio plans to expand his horizons beyond one country. He wishes to form an international business network: a resource and a place of support for entrepreneurs from across Canada, Mexico, and other developing countries. He aims at setting up embassy-style centers for business development that will capture hope in people's hearts from all over the world with practical tools to become leaders. The hub will be developed to provide full positive social and economic impact. In addition, it will favor personal development.
Perhaps, it is precisely at the very heart of the story about Sergiy that there must be a powerful message: to be successful is not only to earn more money than at least someone else or simply not to have debts left over after the main activities are completed but also to grow person-wise and emotionally and in such a way that their influence on others can be appreciated. It can easily change people's lives by seeing the right strategy and the right approach, whether this person is a handyman or a hairstylist.
Sergiy Korelov saw that tenacity, relentless effort, and purpose-driven thought could really take him from Soviet Ukraine to the realization of the American dream. This brings hope to those who end up suffering through the apparently insurmountable challenges since, indeed, Sergiy Korelov often addresses: dreams do come alive with determination and support.
